At Habitat for Humanity Red Deer Region Society we believe in the power of volunteers! We view every volunteer as a stakeholder and equal partner in our cause.

We are always looking for new, eager, passionate individuals to join our growing team in the following areas:

Office Administration:

We often need help in the office for single shifts, to assist with general administrative duties, such as; filing, mailing letters, data entry, etc.

You must be outgoing, organized and have an ability to represent Habitat in a professional manner, to be considered for these positions. Full and half day shifts are available.

The office is open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and we do not currently have shifts available on the weekends.



Events & Marketing:

We often participate in community events, which require “Habitat Ambassadors” to speak with and engage the public.

You must be outgoing, have an interest in marketing and an ability to represent Habitat in a professional manner, to be considered for these positions.

Build Site General Labour:

This position requires hard-working, eager, physically-able volunteers to assist our Construction Manager on the build sites!

Duties range from framing and dry walling to painting and landscaping. You will be placed in a position that suits your experience and comfort level.

From skilled trade workers to volunteers with no experience in construction, we have a place for everyone on site!

For this position only full day shifts are available from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. We do not currently have shifts on the weekends but will likely open up weekend shifts in the future.



Build Site Food Services:

This position requires generous, personable, outgoing volunteers to assist with serving food on our sites!

These shifts are much shorter and run for about an hour and a half over lunch time.

As a Food Service Volunteer you are responsible for making sure all workers are fed, hydrated and food clean-up happens in a timely manner.



Group Build Days:

We encourage businesses, teams, community groups or groups of friends and family to join us for Group Volunteer Days, to promote team unity, comradery and having fun!

We require a minimum 1-day commitment and a group size of 3 - 10 volunteers.

General Duties of Board Membership

All members must stay informed on organizational matters, and participate in the Board’s deliberations and decisions in matters of policy, finance, programs, audit and risk, personnel and advocacy.

  • Monitor all Board policies.

  • Review the bylaws and policy manual, and recommend bylaw changes to the membership.

  • Review the Board’s structure, approve changes, and prepare necessary bylaw amendments.

  • Participate in the development of HFH’s organizational plan and annual review.

  • Approve HFH’s budget.

  • Approve the selection and release of the Executive Director.

  • Support and participate in evaluating the Executive Director.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining positive relations among the board, committees, and community to enhance HFH mission.

ReStore General Labour:

This position requires hard working, personable, physically-able volunteers to assist with the maneuvering of items in the ReStore.

As a General Labour ReStore Volunteer, some of your duties will include, but are not limited to; loading and unloading merchandise from vehicles, assisting customers with delivery and pick-up, providing customer service, moving items on the floor and general housekeeping.

You must be able to easily lift 30lbs for this position. Full or half day shifts are available for the ReStore.

The ReStore is open Monday - Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.



ReStore Customer Service:

This position requires engaging, outgoing, professional volunteers to assist our customers in the ReStore!

As a Customer Service Volunteer some of your duties will include, but are not limited to; assisting customers with purchases, pricing items, answering incoming calls, customer inquiries, inventory control and general customer service.

Full or half day shifts are available.

Donors

Donations of goods, materials, money and/or professional services help us build more Habitat homes in the community.

If you would like to make a monetary donation online, we are registered through CanadaHelps so you can donate in a safe and secure way!

With CanadaHelps, you can make a one-time donation or set up a monthly donation plan. CanadaHelps provides a cost effective alternative to setting up our own online donations facilities: there is no set up fee, no annual charges and we receive immediate notification when a donation is received.

Habitat for Humanity Red Deer Region Society is a registered, charitable, non-profit organization and donations are eligible for a tax receipt.





Anyone can donate to our ReStore, located at 4732-78A Street Close, Red Deer, Alberta T4P2J2. We will thankfully accept reusable building materials that you no longer want or need!

Simply bring your items to the ReStore main entrance and our team of associates will help you unload your materials.

If your items are too large to bring to the store yourself, we will happily arrange a pick-up from your home, free of charge. To arrange a pick-up, please call 403-309-6080 ext. 1.
