September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Habitat Red Deer would like to take time to recognize the significant and tragic impact and ongoing legacy that residential schools have on Indigenous families and communities. We take this day to honour the children of residential schools, both survivors and those who sadly never returned to their families. We believe everyone must remember the children, speak the truth, and work towards reconciliation through actions and learning both today and all year round.
We invite our partners, volunteers, and supporters to observe this day by participating in activities and education related to Truth and Reconciliation, including the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action.
